What Fuels Your Anxiety?
What triggers your anxiety? Maybe you opened your phone for a quick scroll, saw a difficult update online, and suddenly felt your chest get heavy. Maybe you started comparing your life to others and became aware of everything you feel you’re missing.
I know that feeling. For me, one of my biggest triggers for anxious thoughts is uncertainty and lack of clarity. Kapag hindi ko alam kung ano ang nangyayari o kung ano ang mangyayari, doon ako mas mabilis mag-isip ng iba’t ibang possibilities. One fear I’ve carried for a long time is the fear of losing important relationships. Dahil maraming bagay sa buhay ang maaaring magbago.
But through this moment, God reminded me of one truth: people and circumstances may change, but He never does. As Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He will always be there. And that truth became my anchor.
This doesn’t mean that I will never worry again. I still have moments when anxiety comes back. Pero natutunan kong gumawa ng mga bagay na nakakatulong sa mental health ko. Simple things like writing down my thoughts in my journal, spending time in nature, going for a walk, or simply moving my body through exercise and sports.
Bakit ba mahalaga ito? May magandang example dito.
Kapag sumasakay tayo ng eroplano, before takeoff, flight attendants remind passengers that in case of an emergency and oxygen masks are needed, we should put on our own mask first before helping others. At first, parang selfish pakinggan. But the truth is, we cannot help others if we cannot breathe ourselves.
Taking care of ourselves is not selfish—it allows us to love and serve others better.”
The same is true in our spiritual lives. We cannot pour into others without first receiving from Jesus. Rest is not selfish—it is stewardship. Spending time with God is not running away from responsibility; it is preparing ourselves to carry it well.
So here’s our invitation for you today: before opening social media, spend ten quiet minutes with Jesus. Let Him remind you that you don’t have to carry every fear, question, and uncertainty alone.
Tandaan mo, isa kang miracle!
