Goodbye old life, hello new!

Publication date Set 26, 2025

There are times in our lives when the weight of our mistakes seems unbearable. Nangyayari ito kapag may nagawa kang kasalanan, and then condemnation starts to creep in. Minsan, hindi lang ito sa isip natin o sa nararamdaman natin. But some people—intentionally or not—highlight our flaws or remind us how we fall, like we’re a total failure. Do you ever feel condemned because of your mistakes?

Recently, may nakausap akong kaibigan who lost her temper with a family member. She was feeling very condemned, lalo na dahil may mga taong nagsasabi na hindi siya totoong tagasunod ni Kristo kung gano’n ang ugali niya.

Sa mga panahong ito, it’s crucial that we know “Our Identity in Christ,” and that’s why this is our series for this week.

Let’s read this verse aloud:

Sapagkat namatay na kayo sa dati nʼyong buhay, at ang buhay ninyo ngayon ay nakatagong kasama ni Kristo sa Diyos. (Mga Taga-Colosa 3:3 ASD)

This is a good verse to remember whenever we feel like we haven’t really changed ever since getting to know Jesus. Dahil sa totoo lang, noong naging Kanya tayo, hindi lang tayo basta nagbagong-buhay through our own effort—namatay talaga tayo sa dating buhay. And now, we have a new life that’s hidden with Christ in God. We don’t earn this new life by striving or gritting our teeth; it was given to us at our new birth, when we received Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

This is your identity. You’re not defined by your weaknesses, but by the new life given to you by God.

Kaya kung may mga nagbubulong sa isipan mo that you’re not good enough, or that you’re a failure, ito ang ulit-ulitin mong katotohanan sa sarili: “Namatay na ako sa dati kong buhay, at ang buhay ko ngayon ay nakatagong kasama ni Kristo sa Diyos.”

Tandaan mo, isa kang miracle!

Isa kang miracle!
